 How Your Gift Helps

Supporting A Call to College is an investment in the future of all Newark students and the health, prosperity and quality of life of our local community.  All students, especially those from limited means and backgrounds unfamiliar with the college-going process, deserve the encouragement, advice and support to not only set high educational goals, but also reach them.

Thanks to the vision and generosity of Newark High School alumni, and through financial support from community members, the school system, granting agencies, foundations, business and industry, an endowment has been established. Exceptional stewardship of this endowment has helped the impact and reach of A Call to College steadily grow since its inception in 1991.  Endowment income currently supports all high school and PEAK programming and an annual scholarship budget that typically exceeds $700,000. Your gift, no matter what size, will help A Call to College continue to open doors, change lives and build futures.

"I am proud to have been associated with A Call to College both as a long-time volunteer and donor. It is so satisfying to know my efforts have played a role in helping Newark students achieve their dreams of furthering their education. Of course when I attended Newark High School this program was not available, and because my father was ill during my junior and senior years, we simply did not have the financial resources for me to further my education. So I can appreciate firsthand how important helping students with both the process of applying to and the financing of college is to making higher education possible. We worked very hard early on to get A Call to College up and running, but I have so many fond memories of those days!”
